Karla Esser is the Director of the Master of Arts in Education program at Regis University. She received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Colorado in 2012. Dr. Esser previously worked in low social economic public school districts as an assistant superintendent, principal, consultant, and classroom teacher. Her areas of expertise are working with marginalized populations, which has been her research focus. She is the co-chair of HELDE, Higher Education for Linguistically Diverse Education and the Colorado Council of Deans of Education. Dr. Esser works very closely with districts in high-needs neighborhoods, training teachers on best practices for a diverse student population. Before moving back to Colorado, Dr. Esser worked in the German public schools as a classroom teacher and instructional coach.
