Dr. MacDonald has practiced clinically for 25 years as a physical therapist and sought to obtain the best in each of his students within the physical therapy field over the last 20 years. He obtained board certification in geriatrics and orthopaedics before continuing his pursuit of excellence to be able to serve a diverse group of individuals, peer and students by obtaining Fellowship training in manual therapy. Publications in multiple journals, including Physical Therapy, the British Journal of Sports Medicine and the Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy have allowed him to disseminate valuable knowledge within his field and for the broader health care community. 

Dr. MacDonald obtained his Doctoral degree from Regis University, and as a Regis Alumni has been empowered to serve the greater good, becoming the President of the Colorado Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association, achieving key updates to the regulatory practice acts for physical therapists. He continues with research focused on manual therapy and the historical basis of physical therapy and continues to provide graduate and post-graduate education in the School of Physical Therapy and as the Director of the Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy which provides post-graduate education for physical therapists from across the entire United States.
