Frequently Asked Questions
Commencement refers to the ceremony that celebrates graduation; graduation refers to the completion of all degree requirements. Participation in the commencement ceremony does not guarantee graduation, and students who graduate from their program are not required to participate in the commencement ceremony.
The program lists graduates who submit their application and indicate they will participate in the commencement ceremonies. Deadline TBD.
Regalia or cap and gown is what graduates are required to wear at commencement. Baccalaureate students' regalia consists of a black cap and gown, and a tassel that corresponds to the degree they are receiving. Master students' regalia includes a cap with a master's tassel, a gown (with oblong sleeves) and a hood that corresponds to their degree.
All students who walk in commencement are required to wear regalia. Regalia can be purchased through the Regis Bookstore by the student and is theirs to keep after the ceremony. Regalia cannot be rented.
Regalia should be ordered approximately one month prior to commencement. The Regis Bookstore will be at the commencement ceremony for any last-minute changes, but it is strongly recommended that orders are placed ahead of time to ensure correct gown size and tassel/hood color.
Personalized graduation announcements are provided by CB Graduation Announcements. They can be ordered by visiting cbgrad.com or calling 800.283.1779.
Three professional photos are taken of each student by Lifetouch. Lifetouch will automatically send proofs and an order form to the graduate's regis.edu email address. If proofs are not received within two weeks after commencement, please contact Lifetouch to find and order your commencement photos online.
Regis hosts one commencement ceremony per year in the spring (May). Check with your advising counselor for approval to participate in a commencement ceremony before completing your summer courses.
