Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL)

The mission of CETL is to develop, support, and sustain engaged and innovative teaching that meets the needs of 21st Century learners. To enact that mission, CETL provides resources and opportunities that take advantage of evidence-based research and Regis faculty expertise. Consistent with Jesuit values, CETL works with and for others, recognizing that student success is a university-wide commitment: members of the Regis community work together to create a rich learning environment. Thus, CETL actively cultivates collaborations across departments, colleges, and units to contribute to a transformational, holistic experience for our students.

Teaching Jesuit Values

Regis, a Jesuit University, embodies the vision of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus. Faculty are encouraged to learn and incorporate educational methodology based on the teachings of St. Ignatius. Teaching strategies based on the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm include attention to five components: context, evaluation, experience, reflection, and action.

Teaching for Inclusion

Inclusive pedagogy involves taking a student-centered and equity-based approach to teaching. The unique background and abilities of each individual learner are considered and incorporated into teaching practice. The classroom environment as defined by inclusive pedagogy is a level playing field where all students feel equally accepted, empowered, and encouraged to learn and participate.
