R.K. Gabriel teaches “Art in Culture” at Regis University. R.K. is an educator, an art historian and a photographer. One of his guiding principles as an educator is that all students have hidden potential that need encouragement. He has degrees in Psychology and in Art History. He applies this academic background to, not only the courses he teaches, but, also, to his photographic practice. R.K. has traveled much of the world and incorporates those varied experiences and cultural learning opportunities into his academic practice, as well as to his creative pursuits. He has found that the ways human nature is expressed through the Arts and seen within world cultures are of endless wonder and fascination and are sources of perpetual inspiration. In recent years, his photographic practice has been focused on creating composites that are intended to evoke both emotional curiosity and intellectual inquisitiveness. A few of his influences are Man Ray’s experimental art, László Moholy-Nagy’s ideas of restructuring and Production-Reproduction, which create unfamiliar visual relationships, as well as Hannah Hoch, the Dadaists, and the Surrealists. Heck, all life is an inspiration!
