Carolyn Ackerman’s philosophy of teaching is student-centered. Listening is key to this practice. She incorporates many stories from clinical experience and shares subject content connecting the world the students currently know while encouraging them to dig deeper. She integrates Jesuit values and principles throughout each course while expanding their responsiveness and understanding of Magis. She has a passion for end-of-life care and takes what she has learned to increase awareness across disciplines to better prepare them for caring for terminally ill and dying patients and families.
