Featuring Max Stossel from the original Netflix documentary, The Social Dilemma
Award-winning speaker and Youth & Education Advisor at the Center for Humane Technology, Max Stossel, will deliver a pair of presentations for students and their parents, respectively, highlighting tips and tools that people can use to take control of their time online and promote their well-being while using social media. Over the past 7 years, Max has spoken with 100,000+ students, parents, and educators about how social media is impacting our lives and relationships, and he has developed resources to help manage that impact. Attendees will have full access to those resources following the presentations.
Max Stossel is an award-winning artist, the Founder of Social Awakening: an organization dedicated to helping young people survive and thrive in the modern world, and the Youth & Education Advisor for the Center for Humane Technology, a group working to realign technology with humanity.
Before working in this field, Max was a media strategist with an extensive background in social media. He ran social media for big brands and later worked for a social media company where he designed some notifications to distract people.
He has spent the past seven years speaking with 100,000+ students, parents, and educators around the world about social media's impact on our lives, and creating resources to help manage that impact. Max provides a unique and much-needed perspective on the role of technology in our homes, schools, and in our society.
Stossel will present two sessions, one for students and one for parents and community members, highlighting tips and tools that people can use to take control of their time online and promote their well-being while using social media.

Stossel will illustrate some of the specific ways technology is designed to be addictive and distracting, highlight how that's impacting our kids’ minds, and give recommendations on how to address some of the challenges you and your family are facing. This presentation concludes with open space to discuss what’s working and not working in our households.

A Keynote and Panel Discussion with Kristen Iversen

Dr. Kristen Iversen (Chester Alter Scholar): Dr. Iversen is a world-renowned author with personal ties to the Denver community, having grown up not far from Regis in Arvada. Her award-winning book, Full Body Burden: Growing Up in the Nuclear Shadow of Rocky Flats, details her experience being raised near “the most contaminated site in America” and has been chosen by more than 30 universities around the country for their Common Read/First Year Experience programs. It is also the subject of a forthcoming documentary. Dr. Iversen has taught at universities around the country and abroad and is currently Professor of English and Creative Writing at the University of Cincinnati.

The SEED Institute at Regis University’s Anderson College of Business and Computing presents a keynote and panel discussion on Rocky Flats featuring Kristen Iversen, Jon Lipsky (former FBI agent who led the 1989 raid on Rocky Flats), Mark Johnson (Immediate Past President of Colorado Medical Society and Chief Medical Officer for Jefferson County Public Health), Randy Stafford (analyst of Rocky Flats studies), Stephanie Malin (Associate Professor of Sociology and Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Center for Environmental Justice at Colorado State University), Michael Ketterer (Professor Emeritus, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Northern Arizona University), and Niels Schonbeck (Biochemist, Instructor, Regis University). Panel moderated by Nathan Church, an award-winning filmmaker with Havey Pro Cinema and writer, director, and producer of Full Body Burden documentary.
