Neal Schlein

Neal Schlein is a Research Support Librarian at the Dayton Memorial Library and is responsible for the Communications collection. He received his Master of Library and Information Science degree from Syracuse University and has a background in anthropology, musicology, and folklore studies, as well as experience with documentary videography and folklore fieldwork. His work experience includes extensive time in the public library sector (particularly in the realm of youth services programming) and teaching, choreographing, and performing traditional American folk dances. Neal is a member of the American Library Association, Colorado Association of Libraries, Country Dance and Song Society, and CallerLab. His research and personal interests include the intersection of games and education (particularly tabletop board games and escape rooms); escape room design; and the history, practice, and politics of folk dance in America. Neal enjoys cooking, square dancing, presenting, dressing up for the Renaissance Festival, and pretending he can play the guitar and sing.
