Creative Writing

Bachelor of Fine Arts

Find Your Voice and Tell Your Story.

If you live for stories — reading them, writing them and bringing new worlds to life — the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at Regis University helps your voice take shape. The only B.F.A in Colorado and within the Jesuit network, this campus-based program offers the mentorship, tools and creative community to turn passion into profession. You’ll explore fiction, poetry, screenwriting and more with faculty who are accomplished authors, building a strong foundation in both literary history and creative expression through workshops, visiting writers and access to the Creative Writing Center and multimedia Story Center Lab.

From your first semester to your senior capstone presentation, you’ll graduate with a polished portfolio that may include a full screenplay, poetry chapbook or publishable short fiction. You’ll gain real-world experience through internships in Denver’s creative community, and with our FastForward option, apply up to nine credits toward a Regis MFA or related master’s program. At Regis, you won’t just study literature — you’ll create it.

B.F.A in Creative Writing or B.A. in English?

While both the B.F.A in Creative Writing and the B.A. in English involve extensive reading, discussion and critical analysis of literature, the two programs differ in focus. The B.F.A centers on the creation of original work — fiction, poetry, screenwriting and more — allowing you to practice the craft of writing and graduate with a polished portfolio of your own literature.
