Spirit of Loretto Committee

The Spirit of Loretto (SOL) Committee was formed in 2002 in response to the growing need to serve our Loretto alumni. Its mission is to keep the spirit of Loretto Heights College alive by perpetuating the values, heritage and traditions of LHC. The SOL Committee is comprised of alums from various decades who meet monthly to plan and implement special events and programs that serve our LHC alumni.

Each year the SOL Committee solicits nominations for its annual Lumen Christi and Distinguished Alumna/us awards. The Lumen Christi Award, named for Max Di Julio’s Christmas choral composition, is given to an outstanding and beloved member of the Loretto Heights faculty or staff. Deceased faculty and staff members may be nominated. The Distinguished Alumna/us Award is given for outstanding lifetime achievement and/or significant contributions to the community. Deceased alumni may be nominated. Awards are given at the LHC Luncheon held during the reunion weekend.

All Loretto Heights alumni and their guests are invited to events planned by the SOL Committee.

Spirit of Loretto Awards

The Spirit of Loretto Awards are presented annually at the LHC Reunion and Awards Luncheon.

Please review with the nominee their resume, and briefly the lifetime achievements they are proud of, especially those which were influenced by Sisters of Loretto and their motto “Work for Justice and Act for Peace.”

Nominations will be collected by Regis University Alumni Engagement staff on behalf of the Spirit of Loretto Committee, which will make the final selection(s). At the discretion of the SOL Committee, one or more SOL Awards may be given annually.
