Regis to offer lifelong learning courses for people over 50
Regis University will bring inexpensive in-person and virtual courses for people 50 years of age and better to the North Denver area this year through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) in collaboration with the University of Denver.
Regis will become a location for a variety of low-cost, non-credit courses starting with a 10-week virtual series this summer and continuing in the fall with 4-week, 6-week and 8-weeklong courses. Members pay $10 a class for the summer series; for a $140 semester membership, people can register for unlimited classes offered at Regis and other OLLI locations In the Denver area.
Regis University is honored to become the seventh site in the Denver area for the Bernard Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. In doing so, Regis continues its 145-year long tradition in providing educational opportunities to increasingly wide audiences,” said Professor Marie Friedemann, Regis site manager for OLLI.
Friedemann said the OLLI program takes seriously its theme of “Curiosity Never Retires,” and that the opportunity for Regis University to provide engaging learning opportunities to curious, interested and energetic adults is a distinct privilege.
The Bernard Osher Foundation created its lifelong learning institute in 2001 to improve the quality of life through support for higher education and the arts and now helps fund centers at more than 120 colleges and universities across the nation, including at DU and Colorado State University.”
Regis’ 2022 Summer Short Topics Series will be conducted live online from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. every Tuesday from May 31 to August 9. Attendees may register at regis.edu/OLLI. Sort by genre to find webinars as an option. Registration for each webinar is $10.00 or $70.00 for the series of 10.

- June 21: Corruption and Racketeering: An Examination of FBI Sting Operations: Dr.Vincent Wincelowicz, Professor Emeritus, Regis University and former undercover FBI agent
- June 28: Colorado Wildfire Resistance: Urgency and Paths to Action:Marguerite Harden, Local Resiliency Manager, Colorado Resiliency Office and Alec Rodriquez, Resilience Youth Network
- July 12: Cannabis: Is it Real Medicine or Just Recreation: Dr. Laura Borgelt, Associate Vice Chancellor, University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus
- July 19: Making the Pitch: Developing and Writing The Fireballer: Mark Stevens, Author
- July 26: Purposeful Travel: Seize the Moment for Post-Pandemic Travels:Bruce Caughey, coauthor, The Colorado Guide
- August 2: Lost Restaurants of Denver: Kristen Autobee, author

The fall class offerings will be announced June 15, registration will begin Aug. 1 and classes start Sept. 12. Classes will be virtual or held on the Regis campus.
OLLI Regis members will have library privileges and receive a Library Card for Dayton Memorial Library.
