Regis Prayer Labyrinth
Overview and Directions
A labyrinth is a single, winding path that leads to the center and back again. Unlike a maze, it has no dead ends or wrong turns. As a symbol for a spiritual journey, the twists and turns of the labyrinth may feel like they move further from the destination. However, every step actually leads closer to the center; no step is wasted. Like the grace of God, the path holds the walker throughout the journey, drawing the pilgrim closer to wholeness, wisdom, love and God's presence.
Walking a labyrinth is an ancient contemplative practice found in Christian and other spiritual traditions. It offers an opportunity for prayer, reflection, mindfulness and renewal. To walk the labyrinth, start at the opening and follow the path toward the center. Walk slowly and attentively. You may want to set an intention, ponder a question, repeat a mantra, offer a prayer or notice how your senses respond to the surroundings. Pause in the center for silence, reflection or prayer. Follow the same path back to where you started. Like a pilgrimage, the labyrinth combines movement and contemplation, inviting us to encounter the sacred both within ourselves and throughout the world around us.
Pope Francis, Laudato Si’All-powerful God, you are present in the whole universe and in the smallest of your creatures. You embrace with your tenderness all that exists. Pour out upon us the power of your love, that we may protect life and beauty.
