Scholarships and Grants for First-Year and Transfer Students

Regis University believes that every promising student deserves the opportunity to earn a degree that is accessible and affordable. As students across the nation submit college applications or consider transfer options, many are left thinking that a private university education is outside of their financial reach. To help students achieve their aspirations, Regis University is launching the Dare to Reimagine scholarship campaign, offering multiple options to help students cover the cost of their education and become Regis Rangers.

Regis Scholarships

Scholarships and grants are awards based on academic performance, program of study, leadership potential, other talents and/or financial need, and do not need to be repaid. Most Regis University scholarship funding (merit, athletic, specialty, etc.) may be combined with other scholarships, but will not exceed the Financial Aid Cost of Attendance budget amounts for tuition, fees and books. There are limited awards which may be designated towards room and board charges. Scholarships are awarded for the fall and spring semesters only and students must be enrolled full-time.

We encourage students to review current scholarship options below and seek out all opportunities, including external scholarships.

Merit Scholarships

Regis University’s Office of Admissions offers merit scholarships and awards to incoming first-year students and transfer students upon a student’s admission to Regis University. Merit scholarships include the Board of Trustees, Presidential, Dean’s, Magis and Blue & Gold scholarships which may be awarded in total amounts of up to $27,000 annually.

These awards can be renewed for 4 years (eight full-time semesters), as long as the recipient maintains the appropriate cumulative grade point average at Regis University. These scholarships cannot be applied toward the summer semester.

Other competitive merit scholarships include:
Honors Scholarship
Ignatian Religious Leadership Award
Irish Community Scholarship
Scholarship Month In-Person Competitions

Prospective students should reach out to the Office of Admissions with questions regarding their eligibility and application.

Talent Scholarships

Regis offers talent scholarships in the areas of athletics, speech and debate, and music. Some talent scholarships may require auditions, interviews or additional application materials.

Athletics: Athletes in baseball, volleyball, basketball, softball, lacrosse, cross country, soccer and golf may be awarded athletic scholarships by the Regis Athletic Department. Contact the Athletic Department or coach of your sport.

Club Sports: New students for the Fall 2023 term who have been recruited or selected to participate in Regis Club Sports are eligible to receive a Club Sports Scholarship of $1,000. This scholarship is stackable with other awards, such as the Catholic Promise Scholarship and St. John Francis Regis Scholarship, for a maximum total award of $3,000. Tuition Advantage

Regis’ new Tuition Advantage Program will recognize high-achieving students throughout the state of Colorado who demonstrate financial need. For in-state students with a 3.0 GPA or higher whose families make a total adjusted gross income of less than $50,000 a year (based on 2021 tax return), the program will cover the student's full tuition after institutional, state and federal funds are applied, including Pell Grants and Colorado Student Grants (CSG). The four-year estimated value of a Tuition Advantage financial aid package exceeds $170,000.

Please note: Students must be eligible for federal financial aid, be determined to be Colorado residents and live on campus to qualify.

Endowed Scholarships

Endowed scholarships have been established through the generous support of foundations, corporations and the University’s alumni, parents and friends. Scholarships are an investment in the students of Regis, and the University community is grateful for the vision of our scholarship donors. Scholarships are a very meaningful way to honor families, friends and loved ones.

Students are automatically considered for scholarship awards at the time of application; there is no separate application for these scholarships. Criteria for each scholarship is determined by the donor and selection is made by the Scholarship Committee of Regis University. Eligibility is based on merit and/or financial need. Scholarships are renewable for four years if the student maintains certain academic requirements and funding is available.

TJ Myrick Scholarship: The TJ Myrick Scholarship is available to students studying in our full-time, on-campus B.S. Nursing program. The scholarship is awarded each year to an incoming junior, and the scholarship may be renewed for their senior year if they remain in good standing. Preference is given to those who have completed their freshman and sophomore years at Regis.

Stackable Scholarships

Catholic Promise Scholarships: Regis' Catholic Promise Scholarship is a $2,000 award available to students who have graduated from a Catholic high school. This scholarship is stackable with other awards, such as the D2R Club Sports Scholarship and St. John Francis Regis Scholarship, for a maximum total award of $3,000.

Regis Grant

In addition to federal and state grants, Regis awards an institutional grant to full-time undergraduate students based on their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and calculated financial need. Students are automatically reviewed for the Regis Grant and no additional application is required, however a FAFSA must be submitted by the priority deadline each year for students to be considered. The Regis Grant is awarded for the fall and spring semesters only and the annual amount awarded may change dependent on renewed FAFSA information.

State Grants

Colorado Student Grant

Colorado Student Grant (CSG) are funds given to the school by the Colorado General Assembly and awarded to undergraduate students who have not yet received a bachelor’s degree, who are Colorado residents for tuition purposes, and who document high financial need. Priority is given to students who are enrolled full-time. Students must file the FAFSA and document residency by submitting a completed Colorado Residency Form.

College Opportunity Fund (COF)

The College Opportunity Fund (COF) stipend is an amount of money per credit hour paid by the state of Colorado on behalf of eligible undergraduate resident students. At Regis University, students must also be Federal Pell Grant eligible, document their Colorado residency and have graduated from a Colorado high school. The state of Colorado sets the per credit hour award amount each year for both public and private schools in Colorado. Students must apply for the stipend through the College Assist website.

Federal Grants

Pell Grant

The Federal Pell Grant is a federally-funded program for students with extreme financial need, based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) calculated by the FAFSA, estimated costs and enrollment status determine the amount of your Federal Pell Grant.

Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant

The federally-funded Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) may be awarded to students seeking a first-time baccalaureate degree. The FAFSA is used to apply for the grant. Students who qualify for Federal Pell Grants are considered for FSEOG.

Federal TEACH Grant

The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program provides up to $4,000 per year ($16,000 total for undergraduate students and $8,000 total for graduate students) in grants for students who, annually: 1) are eligible for federal student aid programs, 2) complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), 3) complete the TEACH Grant Form, 4) complete TEACH Grant counseling, 5) complete the TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve or Repay. The TEACH Grant Counseling and Agreement to Serve or Repay are located at www.studentaid.gov. As part of the TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve, students agree to:

  • Serve as a full-time highly-qualified teacher for four elementary or secondary school years at a school or educational service agency that serves low-income students;
  • Teach in a high-need field; and
  • Complete the required four years of teaching within eight years after you graduate from or otherwise cease to be enrolled at the institution of higher education where you received your TEACH Grants.

If a student does not meet the requirements of their service obligation, all TEACH Grants they received will be converted to Direct Unsubsidized Loans. Students must repay these loans in full, with interest charged from the date of each TEACH Grant disbursement.

As required by the Budget Control Act of 2011 (the sequester law), any TEACH Grant disbursement requires a sequestration reduction. For example, a 5.70% sequestration reduction on a $4,000 TEACH Grant means that a student will actually receive $3,772.
