Regis University Innovation Center Launches Fourth Innovation Challenge

Teams will compete for $17,000 in cash and other prizes

Do you have a great business concept you want to develop? Want to earn prize money to take your fresh idea farther?

The Innovation Center in the Anderson College of Business and Computing at Regis University recently launched its fourth-annual Regis Innovation Challenge, and community members are encouraged to pitch alongside Regis students, staff, faculty and alumni. At stake are $17,000 in prizes, including $10,000 to the first-place finisher.

Teams have until 9 p.m. on Nov. 13 to sign up.

“Whether you already run a business or have an idea that’s been scratching at the back of your head waiting to get out, the Innovation Challenge is designed to help make these successful,” said Ken Sagendorf, Ph.D., a professor and director of The Innovation Center in the Anderson College at Regis University. “Come participate – join us!”

All teams will compete in the semi-finals on Nov. 17 and 18. Finalists advance, and receive extensive mentoring, network-building opportunities and additional support on the way to competing for monetary prizes and co-working space on April 16.

Finalists will pitch to both a panel of judges and an audience; the top four winners will be selected by a combination of judges’ and audience votes in real-time. Criteria include business desirability, feasibility, and viability. Whether virtual or in-person, the April 16 event will be open to the public.

“No one else does anything like this,” Sagendorf said. “This isn’t a quick weekend competition. We mentor teams for more than three months because we want you to succeed. We expect you to start and run these businesses, hire people, and become leaders in your communities.”
