University of Colorado – Boulder earns regional title, advances to nationals

Regis University's Anderson College of Business and Computing hosted the 16th consecutive Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (RMCCDC) on March 6-7, bringing together the top eight collegiate cyber teams in the Rocky Mountain Region.

The University of Colorado – Boulder claimed first place in the regional competition, earning a berth in the 2026 National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC), scheduled for April 24-26 as an all-virtual event. Brigham Young University finished second and will compete in the National CCDC Wildcard competition on April 8, also an all-virtual event. The wildcard winner advances to the national competition alongside the top finishers from the other nine regions.

Rocky Mountain Regional Director Bob Bowles expressed confidence heading into nationals.

"Bring home that national championship trophy to the Rocky Mountain Region," Bowles said. "This is our year!"

The CCDC is the nation's premier collegiate cybersecurity competition, challenging student teams to manage and defend live network infrastructures against simulated cyberattacks.
