Next Steps for Counseling and Family Therapy Students

Congratulations! Now that you have been accepted into one of Regis’ Division of Counseling and Family Therapy programs, it is time to take care of a few details.

Your Admissions Counselor and New Student Coach are here to guide you through the initial steps to get started, registered for your first classes and make sure you're set up for success. Your student success team is highly trained in all things Regis, so don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have!

1: Submit Your Deposit

To secure your spot on our class roster, a $350 non-refundable deposit is required within two weeks of receiving your admissions offer. The deposit is applied directly towards your tuition and can be submitted by electronic transfer or check.

2: Activate RegisNet

You have got email! Your RegisNet ID will serve as your username and password for all things Regis. Once we receive your deposit, you will receive an email with your RegisNet username, at which point you'll be able to set up and activate your account.

3: Plan Your Payments

Going to school is a big investment. Do not let money get the best of you, or stand in the way of your education. In addition to filing your FAFSA, we recommend joining one of our Financing Your Future virtual sessions, which are hosted on a bi-monthly basis.

4: Student Success Webinar

We want to make sure you understand what next steps you will be responsible for completing over the next few weeks and are prepared for your first week of classes – our Student Success virtual webinar covers all those bases. Attendance is mandatory for all incoming students, so be sure to sign up when registration opens.

5: Compliance Requirements

Our Compliance Office needs you to complete some important requirements before you take your first class. All incoming counseling students will receive an email with detailed instructions for completing a background check and their Academic Integrity Quiz. All compliance documents MUST be submitted and approved by the deadline.

6: Request a Transfer Review

If you have taken master’s-level courses through another institution within a similar field, be sure to check out the information you will need to gather for a transfer credit review and request one from the Office of Admissions. Eligible students may transfer up to 12 credits towards their program.

Get Ready for Classes

Once all your documentation is submitted, there are just a few more things you'll need to do before your first day of classes.

Take advantage of the opportunity to join your cohort's Facebook group, a private Facebook group where you can get to know future classmates – or potential roommates – before classes start. Your admissions counselor will provide your invitation to join the group leading up to your start date.

Purchase or Waive Insurance
All students who already have their own health insurance must waive the Regis student health insurance option. Students who do not waive or purchase insurance will be automatically enrolled prior to the start of classes.

Check Your Class Schedule
All incoming counseling students are pre-registered for your first term of classes. You can select your top course preferences for up to two classes, however placement is not guaranteed. You'll receive your schedule once you've been registered.

Buy Your Textbooks
Textbooks are available one month before class begins. You can purchase—or rent—paperback and digital texts through the Regis Bookstore. Your custom book list can be found in WebAdvisor.

Plan for Orientation
Orientation typically occurs on the first day of the semester, so be on the lookout for more information from your admissions counselor. You’ll soak up some last-minute reminders, meet future classmates and get ready for the new exciting phase of your life.
