Regis Innovation Challenge: Big Problems Worth Solving

Unleash your inner entrepreneur

At Regis, we have big ideas about business — and these ideas don’t just live on paper. Our Innovation Center brings together students, faculty, alumni and the local community to design and implement creative solutions to some of our most complex global challenges.

Each year the Innovation Center hosts the Regis Innovation Challenge, a business competition that offers competitors support, mentorship, and guidance for starting and running successful businesses. The winner of the competition wins $10,000 of funding for his/her business, the runner-up gets $5,000 and the third place receives $1,000.

Now in its 6th year, the Regis Innovation Challenge has awarded more than $84,000 in funds and workspace in the Gronowski Innovation Incubator. The Regis community is full of entrepreneurs with potential business ideas that might someday become great companies. All businesses compete around the fundamental concepts of developing and improving a business to be desirable, feasible and viable.

We know that community and an ecosystem are fundamental parts of developing a business. Each year we attempt to put three mentors around each team in the Innovation Challenge: a business faculty member, a Regis alumnus/alumna and a community mentor.

The 2023 competition is already well underway, with finals to be held on April 21. We encourage you to attend the finals and see the winning business ideas while also thinking about your own pitch for next year’s competition. You don’t need to be a Regis student to participate — but each team must have at least one current Regis student to be eligible. If you’ve been interested in starting a business and pursuing your dreams of entrepreneurship, why not let that Regis student be you?

As a Regis student, you’ll be surrounded by peers who may someday become your future business partners. Many students in our adult undergraduate and graduate business programs at Regis are working professionals, with diverse backgrounds and networks of their own. They have already demonstrated a knack for business, meaning faculty don’t have to “teach down” to newcomers, and can elevate the level of instruction to match students’ work experience.

Take our MBA program, for example. Check out our short video and learn more about the Regis MBA directly from Regis faculty, alumni and students. This is just a small example of the valuable hands-on experiences and business expertise you’ll gain as a Regis business student.

As a Regis business student, you’ll also build up your professional network of peers and professors. Our faculty have real-world experience and have spent decades working at companies both large and small. Combining sound business theory with the type of wisdom that only comes from years in the C-suite, our faculty are at the forefront of business trends, and are more than happy to share their extensive professional networks and know-how with students.
