Shari Plantz-Masters, Ph.D., professor of software engineering at Regis University’s Anderson College of Business and Computing, was named Chair of the Computing Accreditation Commission at the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

ABET is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization that reviews and accredits individual programs of applied and natural science, engineering, computing and engineering technology in higher education institutions. ABET ensures that a college or university’s programs adequately prepare students for their chosen profession, accrediting nearly 4800 programs in 42 countries.

As the Chair of the Computing Accreditation Committee, Plantz-Masters organizes and leads the meetings of the Executive Committee, managing the tasks related to policy, documentation and training alongside editing and overseeing accreditation evaluations.

“With 17 years of experience evaluating programs since 2008, my recognition by educators and peers worldwide, along with the Commission's recommendation, underscores my competence,” said Plantz-Masters. “This acknowledgment also enhances the reputation of Regis University, highlighting our dedication to academic quality and excellence.”

For Anderson College of Business and Computing, Plantz-Masters' new role only affirms Regis’ commitment to equipping students with up-to-date and relevant educational practices.

Madhu Rao, Ph.D., academic dean of Anderson College of Business and Computing, concluded how the university continues to benefit from the overlapping relationship between Regis and ABET.

"Dr. Plantz-Masters' appointment as Chair recognizes both her professional contributions and her deep knowledge of best practices in the computing field,” said Rao. “Her expertise benefits our other programs in Anderson, including those in business, by emphasizing high standards in curricular design and assessment."
