Regis University welcomes three new members to the Board of Trustees

The Regis University Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the induction of three new trustees. These new members will serve with distinction, sharing their expertise with the Regis community. 

"Lily, Xavier and Chad each bring a depth of experience and a genuine commitment to our mission that will strengthen the Board of Trustees in meaningful ways," said Regis University President Shawna Cooper Whitehead, Ed.D. "Each of them has spent their career living out the kind of service and social justice that define who we are, and I'm grateful they've said yes to walking this next chapter with us."

Xavier A. Cole, Ed.D., is a leader in higher education with nearly 30 years of experience. As the current president of Loyola University New Orleans, Cole embraces the tenets of Jesuit pedagogy. Living the Ignatian mission, Cole has spent the past three decades dedicating himself to Jesuit education across multiple higher-education institutions and bolstering his identity as a servant leader for students and his community.

“The thing that differentiates Jesuit institutions from other institutions is that we care about the interior development of the person,” said Cole. “And that is what this world needs. We need a world with more awareness of self and how we show up and how we impact others.”

As the president of a Jesuit institution, Cole hopes to share his expertise, growing together with Regis University’s leadership through love and service.

Chad DeLine is a graduate of Regis’ Anderson College of Business, class of 2019. As a Colorado native, DeLine fell in love with Regis’ campus and decided to make it his home for his undergraduate studies. Directly after graduation, DeLine began his career at the IMA Financial Group, where he now serves as Vice President. As a member of the Board of Trustees, DeLine hopes to reify Regis’ unique position as the premier Jesuit Catholic institution in the Rocky Mountain West.

“We're the only Catholic college in the Rocky Mountain West, with impending growth in a lot of our degree programs. It’s important for us and what we're doing." Deline continued, “How do we ensure that we're a pillar of Denver?”

Having served previously on Regis’ Advancement Committee for five years, DeLine brings his longstanding relationship with Regis together with his own business expertise.

The Honorable Lily Griego, M.A., is a health care community leader and former public official in Colorado. Serving as the Director of Region VIII of the Department of Health and Human Services under former President Joseph Biden’s administration, Griego is actively ingrained in health care at the local and federal levels. Griego believes in equal access to education for all and engages with Regis’ dedication to social justice through mission.

“Regis is at the root of the social justice issues that the Jesuit education highlights and underscores,” said Griego. “I'm always fascinated by the diversity of opinions within those conversations.”

Griego has crafted community partnerships with a variety of local organizations, lending her expertise in the areas of health care, health equity and social services. In this critical moment for education, Griego is committed to serving her community alongside Regis.

"Lily's work in health equity, Xavier's decades of leadership at Jesuit institutions, and Chad's firsthand experience as a Regis graduate each add something distinct to our Board, and together they position us well for the work ahead."
