Giving for a Living: Nonprofit Management at Regis

Explore graduate degree and certificate options in nonprofit leadership.

As one of the first universities in the country to offer a graduate degree in nonprofit management, Regis understands that for you, a career is about more than money or status.

It’s about making a difference. Guided by our Jesuit heritage, our Master of Nonprofit Management (MNM) degree program provides a rigorous, values-based, transformative education.

Nonprofit work is deeply fulfilling, and a big part of that is having the chance to help others. As a Regis MNM student, you’ll have the opportunity to gain firsthand experience in our unique Service Oriented Field Experience (SOFE). This program provides you with professional, real-world experience as you work directly in a nonprofit organization either abroad or in the local Denver community.

International SOFE programs have previously been offered in Rwanda, Uganda and Mexico, with future opportunities being developed. Wherever you put your skills to use, you’ll gain valuable insights into the real workings of nonprofit organizations. As recent Regis MNM graduate Tyler Breuer put it:

“It’s a learning experience, so pack a clear heart, open eyes and maybe a tough stomach. Let yourself be completely immersed in all aspects of the SOFE — even the challenging ones.”

Interested in making an immediate difference closer to home? We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership. This program is an excellent entry point for students who wish to understand the nonprofit world and use their talents to help organizations succeed. Developed in partnership with the Denver Rescue Mission, this graduate certificate is open to all students, whether they hope to get their foot in the door of the nonprofit sector, earn credits toward a future master’s degree or simply expand their existing professional skillset.

Students explore the history, formation, legal basis and operations of the nonprofit sector, as well as the ethos and motivations for the development of nonprofits in general. Mastery of these areas makes students more competitive as candidates for advanced nonprofit roles and offers a solid foundation for their future development as nonprofit leaders. This certificate represents part of Regis University’s 30-year legacy as a pioneer in nonprofit management and leadership.

Both our master’s degree and certificate program are built on a century of values that inspire leadership and social justice, helping students build skills and experience for immediate application. Regis is consistently recognized for producing top-performing graduates who have gained experience in fundraising, governance, community relations and nonprofit law through the course of their studies.

Did you know nonprofit work accounts for nearly 11.5 million jobs in the U.S., or more than 10% of national employment? Or that job growth in the nonprofit world outpaces that of the for-profit sector by nearly 3 to 1? The numbers speak for themselves — nonprofit work is a valuable and increasingly complex career choice, and needs intelligent, driven and ambitious leaders more than ever.
