Data Science Department

The Regis Master of Science in Data Science (MSDS) program combines computer programming, statistics, and Jesuit values to train students to become world-class data scientists. Regis’ program is set apart from others in a few ways. We primarily teach data science through hands-on project-based courses, we combine Jesuit values with data science, and we are welcoming to adult learners and career changers.

Students can take courses either in-person or online, or a combination of the two, and can do so while holding a full-time job and having a family life. The Jesuit values we teach enable our data scientists to change the world for the better. This includes ethical and privacy concerns with data science techniques as well as how to use data science for the common good. While other universities may bog down students with overly theoretical courses, we focus on practical data science skills and knowledge.

MSDS Program Areas of Focus

Data engineering

Data engineering is an official specialization in the program achieved by taking 4 MSDE electives and 2 MSDE practicum courses, and entails Python coding skills along with database and data management skills.

Business Intelligence

Business intelligence is a track composed of several elective courses and entails analytics, classic statistics, and communication of data science results.

Machine Learning

Machine learning is also a track of elective courses, which focuses on using Python to carry out ML and AI algorithms in a variety of ways, including deep learning (neural networks), reinforcement learning, classic AI algorithms, and natural language processing (NLP) with text analytics.
